Using Google Maps to Inspire Multicultural Reading

Hi friends,

This week we will be studying Cinderella stories from around the world! This is one of my favorite parts of the year and ties in perfectly to my classroom theme of global competence. This year I created a Google Map to house all the different stories we will be reading. I will use this map to introduce the unit to students on Monday and then refer back to it throughout the week as we explore different cultures. It's also great for students to refer to during guided research. Each golden shoe (see what I did there? ;) ) represents a Cinderella story. Simply click the shoe and a photo of the book along with a link will pop up! You could use this same concept for any type of cultural unit. I also love the idea of using Google Maps as a digital version of "Reading Takes Us Places." What do you do in your classroom to track of multicultural texts?

What are some fun activities you do to teach Cinderella stories from around the world? Let me know in the comments below.

Happy Sunday!
